Being an Orange County Property Manager means dealing with all kinds of quirky holiday calls from tenants. While the season is usually filled with joy and good vibes, sometimes it throws some curveballs. Here are three of the most bizarre, yet true, holiday calls that have kept me on my toes.

1. The Case of the Crispy Gingerbread Men
Call: “My oven went rogue and burned my gingerbread men, but they’re still soft in the middle!”
Reality: Baking is an art, especially during the holidays, but this tenant was sure their oven had turned against them. A quick check revealed the thermostat was playing tricks. Once we sorted that out, gingerbread production was back in full swing, making the holidays a bit sweeter.
Relatable Moment: Even ovens have off days. But don’t worry, your holiday treats will be back to perfection in no time!
2. Santa’s Sneaky Twin
Call: “I think there’s a Santa trying to get into my attic!”
Reality: Initially, this sounded like a job for the police, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding. The neighbor, dressed as Santa, was just trying to create some holiday magic for the kids but got the wrong house. Once we got him sorted out, peace returned, and everyone had a good laugh.
Relatable Moment: Not every Santa needs milk and cookies—sometimes they just need a little guidance on which rooftop to land on!
3. The Toilet Paper Trail
Call: “There’s a roll of toilet paper that’s spontaneously unraveling itself down my hallway!”
Reality: This was a first, even for me. Turns out, the tenant’s cat had discovered a new hobby: unrolling toilet paper and turning the house into a winter wonderland. While it wasn’t a maintenance emergency, it definitely brought some holiday cheer (and a little extra cleaning).
Relatable Moment: Cats: 1, Toilet Paper: 0. They may not help with holiday decorating, but they sure know how to make things interesting!
Being a property manager during the holidays in lively Orange County means being ready for anything. From mistaken Santas to crafty cats, these stories add a bit of fun to the season. As an Orange County Property Manager, I take these calls in stride, knowing they’re all part of the holiday charm.
Here’s to a season filled with laughter, warmth, and only the best kind of surprises for property managers and tenants alike!
